Runway Returns: First On-Set Looks from The Devil Wears Prada 2

It’s happening — nearly 20 years later, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are back, taking over New York City for the production of The Devil Wears Prada 2. And lucky us, we’ve been getting sneak peeks at some of the first on-set looks — proof that in the world of Runway, fashion waits for no one. It’s like a high-fashion family reunion, only with sharper tailoring and even sharper side-eyes. And while trends may have shifted with the times, Miranda’s signature glare remains every bit as on-trend (and on point) as it was in 2006.

It looks like we’re getting a Met Gala scene, and Miranda Priestly arrives in what can only be described as fashion’s version of a mic drop. The dress? A flawless embodiment of her authority — powerful in its commanding red and sculptural volume that demands attention before she even speaks (though you know she could arch an eyebrow and silence the room). Completing the look are ruby earrings of subtle opulence, the kind that drip with wealth and influence without ever veering into gaudy excess. It’s peak Miranda: regal and ruthless.

Here, Miranda steps out in a pale grey suit, edgy and sharp as her glare, paired with matching block heels for that perfectly calculated head-to-toe chill. The color is ice-cold chic, perfectly matching her personality. Masculine tailoring and broad shoulders accentuate her commanding nature, while the overall minimalist look — dripping in quiet luxury — mirrors her power in silence… and yet, it’s deafening.

Another quiet luxury look (I mean, it’s Miranda Priestly — does she really need to prove she’s luxury to us?) with red Jacquemus heels that whisper, “I’m the boss.” She’s layered in a sleek Sa Su Phi beige single-breasted coat over clean-lined, flawlessly tailored pants. In hand, a Mark Cross clutch adds understated sophistication. Even in neutrals, Miranda makes the room turn.

Andy Sachs is back, serving main-character energy in a cobalt blue Rabanne dress — all sequins, all shine, all her. The Grecian draping gives the dress a sense of freedom and flow that perfectly matches Andy’s energy. With every step, she sparkles in those Rene Caovilla heels. Andy is unapologetically radiant.

In a more casual moment, Andy steps out in a Ralph Lauren suede jacket — a timeless staple I desperately need in my own closet. She pairs it with snake-print Zadig & Voltaire boots (cue Miranda’s pursed lips); personally, I’m not a fan of snake print, but it seems like she’s finding her way of mixing standout accessories into an otherwise classic look. A silk Sabina Savage scarf adds a playful pop of color that works perfectly with her light-wash Levi’s, keeping the vibe fresh and easy. It’s style without screaming logos or trying to prove a thing — just Andy, radiating her true self with that signature blend of casual confidence and comfort.

Andy Sachs is serving full-circle fashion growth in a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier ensemble with a tailored, masculine-inspired fit that speaks volumes about her evolution — from clueless intern to look at me now, a woman who knows exactly what she’s doing. The cut is sleek, and paired with sharp YSL boots, she’s strutting the Runway halls rather than scrambling to keep up like she did back in 2006. This outfit doesn’t whisper, I’ve made it — it leans in with a smirk and says, I’m ahead now.

This color-block Gabriela Hearst dress is equally trend-savvy and totally Andy. The bold colors show her knowledge of what’s current, but the relaxed bucket hat says, I’m still Andy. It’s fashion that bends to her own personality — from the girl who once called fashion “stuff” to the woman who’s learned how to do it entirely her own way.

Emily Charlton proves her dedication to fashion has only intensified in a Jean Paul Gaultier pinstripe suit layered over a Wiederhoeft bustier top and Dior logo-print shirt. Paired with Paloma sneaker heels — a bold choice that makes you wonder what Miranda would say — the look is sharp, confident, and unapologetically her. Now, apparently an exec at Dior, Emily radiates an I don’t need you, Miranda energy that’s as fierce as her tailoring. This outfit has us more than a little excited to see just how far her evolution has taken her.

Nigel steps back onto the scene, proving that some things never go out of style — they just get sharper. In a light beige three-piece suit with a soft plaid check, he shows he understands patterning like it’s second nature. Precision tailoring keeps the look polished, while a bold geometric print tie adds that signature Nigel flair — a risky choice only he could make look effortlessly refined. Two-tone monk strap shoes ground the ensemble with understated confidence. This is the look of a man whose voice needs no convincing to be heard.

“Never mix plaid with stripes” — but Nigel says, “You can’t, but I can.” In a dark grey check blazer, he doesn’t hold back, pairing it with a black-and-white gingham shirt and a multi-tonal textured diagonal striped tie. What could be a mess of prints and patterns is instead immaculately composed and polished. This look says one thing loud and clear: here’s a man completely secure in his sense of style. It’s ambition made classy.

Almost 20 years later, Miranda’s still serving ice-cold power looks that could cut glass, Andy’s out here showing her growth in style and owning the runway, Emily is in her Dior-strut era, and Nigel continues walking the streets with poise and style. These are plot twists stitched in silk, sequins, and sharp lapels. And this is only the sneak peek, anyway… That’s all.
